Women's Ministry - Church Chicks

Church Chicks

Church Chicks is a group of women of all ages who gather for spiritual growth, service and socializing.  All ladies are welcome to participate in this lively group!

The Chicks normally meet the first Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:00pm in the CFC. Check the church calendar and please join us!

Here's an example of a typical meeting!
April Meeting Recap 4/3/2024

We started with a word of prayer.
Amanda Hisch had a few reports for us

She had a thank you card from the Preschool for the Wiggle Boards that our donation helped to purchase. The kids and the teachers love them.

Amanda also reported on a possible Father/Daughter dance for 2025!.

  • She gave an estimate for possible profit and proposed a date
  • She is let us know what we would need for budgeting.
  • Event Brite is an app that you can use to collect the money for your event. The cost is $25 and the app takes care of the credit card purchases; no money for us to handle.
  • She wants to use people from church that have businesses –DJ, Photographer with event logo banner, photo booth.
  • This would be a great outreach with Church Chicks working with preschool teachers and families.

Amanda is the Chairperson for Chicks and Chocolate that will be held on Sunday, May 5th.

  • The theme is a Tea Party.
  • The event is free but ladies will need to sign up in the Welcome Center starting this Sunday until April 28. You can reserve a table of friends if you like. Please let us know if you need gluten free.
  • We decided that since there is no cost, the price of admission is a pack of children’s underwear for the charity --. We can call it Undie Sunday (pronounced Sundee so it rhymes)
  • Each Church Chicks will bring a Chocolate Dessert for the event.
  • We are using tea pots, tea cups and geraniums for decorations.
  • We are estimating 100 people for this event.
  • Set up is Saturday, May 4th starting at 9am.
  • We will be having  and chicken salad from Chicken Salad Chick.
  • For entertainment we would thought about Jordan Duncan. Carol Peckenpaugh is going to see if he is available for singing at our event.

Then we had snacks to eat.

Thanks to everyone that came out and helped with giving the church a deep clean on Friday, March 15th. The sanctuary looked great for the Congregational Methodist Conference the next week.

Lisa Toelle had some reports for us:
Fundraiser – Soup for the Soul was March 17th. It was a good event..

  • We made 30 recipe books and sold them all at $2 each.
  • We had 17 crock pots of soup.
  • There was a bit of an issue with the lids for the cups but we resolved it. We decided that we had a few too many desserts. Next time we should have chicken, beef and vegetable broth to add to the soups because they get really thick the longer they cook.
  • We have reserved January 26, 2025 for the next Soup for the Soul.

Fundraiser – Turoni’s

  • The frozen pizzas will be available this Saturday, April 6.
  • One of the freezers in the kitchen is available for church orders.
  • We will have a set up in the gym near the kitchen area.
  • We need about 10 people to help put the orders together.
  • Please bring staplers and sharpies.
  • Pizzas can be picked up from 12:30 – 2:00pm.
  • A total of 204 pizzas were ordered.

Reminder – If you signed up for Cancer Pathways, please check with Jo Ann Hinderliter.

We needed to determine which charities we would like to donate to this year. Instead of voting on the 8 charities we donated $200 each to last year, it suggested that we make a larger donation to charities as they ask for funds. So, we are going to do that.

The West Side Food Pantry had no supplies for infants this past week. So, we decided to have a Diaper, Wiper and Baby Food Drive for the month of April. The items will be split among the Simpson Food Pantry (West Side Food Pantry) and Little Lambs.

We always want to help Tekoppel and Daniel Wertz schools with monetary and school supplies donations. They will always be on our list of charities to support.

We all really enjoyed the intimacy of meeting in the Welcome Center. We could hear each other better and didn’t have to compete with the noises in the gym and getting out on time so that the pickle ball players could set up. So, we decided to have Church Chicks meetings in the Welcome center from now on.

Next meeting is May 1st at 5:30 in the Welcome Center.
We played the Easter Game – Draw on the Paper Plate on Your Head. We had 3 clear Winners!

We closed in our circle of prayer.
